AFEdemy, partner in the Erasmus+ project STEP_UP | Stop epidemic growth through learning, organised a Multiplier Event on 11 January 2023. 12 participants took part in the event, including 5 board members of student association A.S.L.V. Quintus from Leiden, students from the study association Leidsche Flesch and 2 invited guests. The plenary session was given by Bart, with Dieuwertje and Sandra helping out. After Bart’s welcome speech, the STEP_UP Video was shown and then it was explained what we expected participants to do. The online game was shown and tested while discussing. Based on tips and tops the participants wrote on post-it, the game was evaluated. Workshop participants were very positive about the game’s graphics. They especially liked the animations, illustrations and colouring. They also liked the choice of characters and the fact that you could play the game from different people’s perspectives. Participants named several areas for improvement such as short texts, improvements in translations and in how to motivate participants to play the whole game. Finally, the game was considered a good combination of playful and informative, and participants enjoyed the interlude of mini-games. The Croatian Institute of Public Health (CIPH), partner in the Erasmus+ project STEP_UP | Stop epidemic growth through learning, organized a Multiplier Event on November 25th . The event included 38 participants, reaching 27 participants from regional public health institutes and 11 from CIPH. In the plenary session, Željka Draušnik, from CIPH, presented the project, explaining its main objectives and outcomes: the STEP_UP educational game, the Manual on Social and Political Measures, the Toolkit for professionals and training methodology and the Virtual Library. Afterwards, Ana Ištvanović and Bojana Raičković, both from CIPH, helped participants to test the online game (for now in English, but coming soon in Croatian), evaluate the approach taken and the overall methodology, thus enabling access to the contents first hand. The multiplier event of the Erasmus+ project STEP_UP | Stop epidemic growth through learning reached 52 international participants, 32 Portuguese ones and 13 project team members on November 9th at the Nursing School of Coimbra, integrated in the International Conference Learning and Implementing Social Innovation. STEP_UP has been developing a training tool based on an educational game, which aims to raise awareness of the impact of behaviours in the spread of a pandemic/emergency situation. This training material is to be used at adult education, with particular emphasis on community leaders, informal carers and volunteers, social and health sector professionals, who can learn about preventive measures and their different impacts at individual, work, family, governmental and other levels. In the plenary session, Carina Dantas, from SHINE 2Europe, presented the project, explaining its main objectives and outcomes: the STEP_UP educational game, the Manual on Social and Political Measures and the Toolkit for professionals and training methodology. In the afternoon, a practical session led by Francesco Camonita from the Spanish partner Wise Angle, with Carina Dantas and Miriam Cabrita from SHINE 2Europe, allowed participants to test the online game, see the approach and how the overall methodology works and access the contents first hand. With this session, it was possible to collect feedback and suggestions for improvement of the game and the educational strategies used, which will now be implemented to improve the project’s results. On November 8th and 9th, we will talk about Smart Healthy Age-friendly Environments and Social Innovation in Coimbra. This conference is co-organised by the Nursing School of Coimbra, SHINE 2Europe and AFEdemy, and aims to share and discuss approaches, projects and best practices related to Social Innovation and how to implement and develop healthier and inclusive environments. In addition to the very interesting panels of speakers, during the two days of the conference workshops and face-to-face meetings will allow for different projects to be presented and discussed. Carina Dantas, CEO of SHINE 2Europe refers that “This is a true example of Social Innovation: connecting different countries, stakeholders, projects, challenges and potential solutions and have them getting acquainted, discussing and finding new collaborations. Only broadening the horizons we can find new pathways for our own daily challenges! Hopefully, we will build new roads together at the Conference.” STEP_UP will be having its multiplier event on November 9th, with Carina Dantas, from SHINE 2Europe, providing an overview of the work that has been done so far in a Plenary session in the morning, focusing on the presentation of the Manual, the workshop curriculum and most especially the educational game that is being finalised. A practical session led by SHINE and Wise Angle will take place on the afternoon of November 9th. In this session the participants will test the educational game that introduce the players to the impact of behaviours in the spread of a pandemic/emergency situation, how to prevent them and cope. Afterwards, a reflection about the next steps, and how to exploit additional opportunities with key local and national stakeholders will be key for the project future sustainability. Wise Angle hosted the partners’ staff from the STEP_UP consortium for a Short-term Joint Staff Training in Barcelona. Participants of this LTTAs were relevant personnel members of the partner organisations, who were offered with a short training course of the STEP_UP game and workshop curriculum. The group of participants reflected the multidisciplinary approach of the STEP_UP project, as it includes social science researchers affiliated to University, consultants, adult educators and public servants related to health policy. The participants were led through a short introduction of the project and a much more detailed list of sessions guiding these future trainers through the modules and content of the project. There was also a section particularly dedicated to the execution of workshops alongside discussion spaces leading to constructive feedback for the intellectual outputs of the project. Wise Angle hosted the project partners in Barcelona for the 4th Transnational Project Meeting! On June 27-28, representatives of the 5 partners in the project gathered in Barcelona, wonderfully hosted at Wise Angle’s new premises in the Barcelona Health Hub. The working session was very intense and focused on seeing the first version of the game already online and a thorough review of the scenes, dialogues and mini-games.
